Las Vegas vacations often involve sitting in one of the many well-appointed casinos, taking a chance and hoping to build up a massive bankroll.  Gambling, however, isn’t the only thing the city has to offer. Of course, Las Vegas offers a great nightlife scene, world class golfing, spas and resorts, and some of the world’s greatest shows.  Even after that, however, Vegas continues to offer more.  There are some amazing sight-seeing options that can be key parts of unforgettable Las Vegas vacations.  Let’s just review a few of the must-see sights in the Vegas area.

Hover Dam is an obvious choice.  This truly massive structure is a sight to behold and its surroundings are equally awe-inspiring.  If you want to see a true man-made miracle, you simply must make the drive to the dam.  Take the tour, too.  You’ll learn a lot about the structure and the history of the area, allowing you to leave with an even greater appreciation for both.

Everyone who visits Las Vegas should take a trip down to the Fremont Street Experience, too.  This one-of-a-kind downtown overhead light show is simply fantastic.  You can travel to city after city for your entire life without ever encountering anything like this electric extravaganza.  The show is on several times a day, making it easy to catch regardless of your schedule.  While you’re in the area, you can also sneak a peak at some of the city’s most famed and venerable casino properties.

Those who appreciate natural beauty should add a journey to Red Rock Canyon to their itinerary.  This massive federally-protected area is probably the best way to really experience the beauty and scope of the Mojave desert.  Bicyclists, hikers and climbers will find that Red Rock Canyon is a paradise.  Those less inclined toward outdoors adventure can soak in the amazing views of the Spring Mountains and Las Vegas Valley from the car while tooling down the special scenic drive.

Even if you’re staying downtown or in Henderson, Las Vegas vacations should always include a trip to The Strip.  That four-mile strip of Las Vegas Boulevard is stuffed with some of the most extravagant hotel structures ever conceived, offers amazing shopping and even boasts a few golf courses.  The Strip is Vegas at its best and its a must-see for any traveler.
